our curriculum

At Acklam Whin Primary, our curriculum is based upon the requirements of the National Curriculum and reflects the heritage of our local community. We have designed a curriculum which is creative, broad and balanced. We believe our curriculum should prepare our pupils for the next phase of their education and for their future life.

To achieve this, our curriculum will ensure our children have a good understanding about their local area and provide them with an awareness of how they can achieve their aspirations. It provides our children with the appropriate knowledge and skills.

There is a clear sequence and progression in the mastery approach to our curriculum, which is challenging and achievable for all. We aim to inspire and engage all our children by providing memorable and purposeful learning opportunities and which will also equip them emotionally, physically and socially.

Our curriculum also provides opportunities for all children to develop as independent learners and reflective thinkers who are able to grow in confidence and resilience. We aim for our pupils to leave us with our aims and values of being socially responsible, independent, respectful and resilient and able to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society.
