Friends are the family you choose! Do you want to be friends? Would you like to play with me? It’s time to find out more about friendship, being kind and working together.
This half term, we’ll learn how to be a good friend by sharing stories and playing together with our class. We’ll find out about the adults who work in our school and how they help us. In the classroom, we’ll share photos of them and compile a ‘Who’s who?’ display of our grown up helpers. Working together, we’ll create friendship scenarios using small world figures in our construction area, and we’ll be responsible for tidying play areas in the classroom. We’ll talk about friendship, being kind and helpful, loneliness, enemies, and the things we like. In our literacy lessons, we’ll discover new words to describe ourselves and characters, as well as writing our own name and practicing letter sounds. In our mathematics lessons, we will compare the size of mummy owl’s branches from her nest and count within 5. Getting creative, we’ll use a drum to tap out rhythms together, draw pictures of ourselves and colour mix with paint. We will be active playing circle games that develop our skills in communication, sharing and working as a team. During this term, we’ll take photographs in our friendship groups to add to our display. In PE we will be practicing finding spaces, moving in different ways and throwing and catching.
