Summer Reading Challenge 2020
Every summer ‘The Reading Agency’ launch the Summer Reading Scheme. The theme this year is ‘Silly Squad’ bringing a sense of togetherness through reading. There are lots of free resources for schools to use, we’ve attached the Schools Toolkit and a link to the website where there are activity sheets, competitions, author sessions, PTA platforms and handy digital newsletter banners you can download. The Reading Agency also have a link for physical packs for hard to reach families.
On the 18th July, we will be gearing our Middlesbrough Libraries social media platforms to everything Silly Squad, with lots of content on signing up, competitions and how to get involved. Easy access to Middlesbrough Libraries, Borrow Box where children can download eBooks and eAudiobooks for free. We are also taking delivery of some physical resources and will be making up packs for children who don’t have access to technology to take part. We are still working out the logistics of this but will be in contact with more details soon.
There will be lots of content with the ever adaptable Tammy and faithful companion Monty the dog, sessions from author and illustrator Liz Million, and many more things in the pipeline. We understand schools are facing unprecedented times, and hope the resources will come in useful in your planning with the children currently coming into school and sharing with children who are undertaking home learning with parents.
Good Morning Everybody!
