Good morning Year 6 and welcome to another week of home learning.
We hope you remain well and have had a well-deserved, relaxing weekend.
You had a great week, last week, and we received some excellent work. It is lovely to see so many of you engaging in the work that we have set. This will really help you to keep on track with your learning in preparation for your transition to secondary school.
This week’s home learning plan is now up and running on our Year 6 page. As usual, we have set work in English, reading, maths, spelling, science and music/art.
Now that we are into our 3rd week of home learning, we would like you to be completing all of the maths, English and reading that have been set for the week. It would also be great to see more of you sending in some of the topic work we have set. The children in school have been enjoying the topic work from the learning plan.
In English, we are moving forward with our writing and GPS work on The Golden Compass.
For reading, we will be continuing the book The Giant’s Necklace. Will Cherry stay and finish the necklace, I wonder?
As you know, we emailed out your brand new logins for First News last week. This is an excellent online resource which we are sure you will love as much as you love the actual newspapers themselves. You will find that we have set some reading tasks on there for you.
There is also a new book added to Purple Mash called The Time-Lock Adventures.
Mrs F-J is reading the David Walliams story ‘Nigel Nit-boy’.
This week, in maths, we are looking at properties of a circle and then moving on to multiplying and dividing decimals. If you need the steps to success sending out, please ask and we will email these out to you.
You will see on the maths plan that we have added a Maths Extension area. If you feel that you would like extra maths work, then please look at the lessons set on My Maths or Sats Companion.
We have also set some work on Times Tables Rockstars as you know how important it is that you know all your times tables.
Topic this week covers the next science lesson on adaptations where you will get the opportunity to create Top Trumps cards on animals from cold climates: we know how much you loved doing this on trench warfare.
We think you will love the music this week as you get the chance to create a Cuban Mambo with kitchen equipment; we aren’t so sure your parents will love it as much as you! You can send us in a video of you musical masterpiece.
As always, we love reading your fantastic work so don’t forget to keep emailing it to us.
From this week, we are going to be doing a live zoom from the classroom each Monday and Thursday morning, at 9:00am. This will give you the opportunity to see all of your friends and ask any burning questions that you may have. To access Monday morning’s zoom you will need the following details…
