Year 3

Hi everyone,

We hope that you are all keeping well and safe. This web page contains lots of great links and home learning activities to complete during your ‘school day’.

We are regularly updating it so please keep on returning to see what’s new. In addition, we are sending updates and ideas through Marvellous Me and the school app so keep a lookout for those too.

It has been lovely to hear from many of you already about what you have been doing outside of school. Please continue to share via our school Twitter and Facebook accounts @acklamwhin, or by emailing Mrs Moore or Miss Hirst (addresses below).  We will reply as soon as possible, within working hours.

Take good care and keep being fantastic Year 3 superstars.

Spelling

Help Your Kid Ace The Next Spelling Test

This week we would like you to continue practising your Common Exception words from Year 2.

These words will be tested on Friday 25th September.

The following words are from the list of common exception words from Year 2, which we are revising at the beginning of Year 3.  They are listed in alphabetical order and not level of difficulty and do not follow a particular spelling rule or pattern.

Please help your child revise and learn each spelling.  Read the words together, point out any unusual sounds or letter patterns; discuss the meaning of the words.

Use the first column to copy the given word.

Once the words are copied, cover them and see if your child can remember how to spell the word without looking.

Use the third column to correct any mistakes or to test the words again.

Your words this week are:

again

behind

climb

clothes

every

grass

great

half

hour

improve

money

would

Once you have practised the spellings and you are feeling confident, try the quiz that has been set as a ToDo on Purple Mash.

Reading Task

Reading Programmes: the art of reading for the OED | Oxford English Dictionary

Many of you are already doing an excellent job with your home reading. This week, we would love you to keep up this fantastic effort. Aim to be reading at least 3 times per week and don’t forget to record it in your planner to count towards your certificates!
