Middlesbrough Sports Partnership Events

Y6 boys/girls football
We had both a boys and a girls team representing Acklam Whin at the very popular Middlesbrough Football Competition. Both of our teams managed to make it into the championship side of the draw, where they bowed out in the afternoon.

Y6 Golf
10 of our y6 children took part in the Middlesbrough Tri-Golf competition. Our children took part in 10 activities throughout the afternoon at UCA and ended up Winners! They will now represent Middlesbrough at the Tees Valley Finals.

Y6 Mixed Tag Rugby
Over 35 schools took part in the Middlesbrough Ta Rugby Competition held at Middlesbrough College. Our children remained unbeaten throughout the morning winning each game. In the afternoon again our children were undefeated until the final, where they eventually lost to Pallister Park. They will now represent Middlesbrough at the Tees Valley Finals, which is a fantastic achievement.

Y6 Girls Tag Rugby
Our girls headed to Southlands for an afternoon of Tag Rugby. The girls showed fanatics skill and attitude and were very unlucky to lose to St Edwards in the quarter final in a golden try situation. A real shame as our girls looked set to go all of the way!

Y4 Mixed Tag Rugby
4 boys and 4 girls from Y4 represented Acklam whin at the Middlesbrough Tag Rugby Competition.  Our children showed great concentration throughout the day and made it into the semi-finals. In the semi-finals they unfortunately lost out to Thorntree L who they had previously beaten earlier in the day. Our children picked themselves up quickly and managed to win the ¾ place play off. More medals returning to school!

Y6 Gymnastics
4 of our girls from Y6 worked tirelessly on a routine for the Middlesbrough Gymnastics event. They took part in a floor routine as well as a vault. They narrowly missed out on medals in the individual competition. But they all had a fantastic day representing Acklam Whin.

Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics
It was so difficult to try and pick children to go to this event with so many of our children scoring highly and showing a great attitude in our Sportshall Athletics PE sessions. 24 our Y6 children went to Eston to take part in several field and track events. Each score was added together and we finished a fanatic 2nd overall narrowly missing out on a Tees Valley final.  A great achievement.

Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics
Again it was so difficult to choose children to attend this event. 25 children from across the year group attended the Eston competition. The format was the same as the y5/6 events with individual events going towards a total score. Just like the y5/6 we finished a fantastic 2nd out of 32 schools! More medals returning to school!

Y5/6 Table Tennis
Ormesby table Tennis Club was the perfect venue for a competition which we had won for 4 years in a row! Could we make it 5? 4 boys and 4 girls made up our table tennis team and performed to an exceptional standard. In the final we beat beech Grove 6-2 to claim our 5th straight championship! A fantastic achievement!

Year 6 PE day
15 of our y6 pupils headed to Eston for a day of sampling new sports and taking part in numerous PE activities! The children had a fantastic time and loved trying new sports. Many of our children are looking at furthering their interests in the sports which they tried!

Y5/6 Swimming gala.
10 of our Y5/6 swimmers were chosen to represent Acklam Whin at the Middlesbrough Swimming gala at Neptune Swimming baths. They took part in numerous races including freestyle, back stroke and breaststroke. It was a very competitive morning with some of our children returning with medals!

Tees Valley Finals

Y5 Quadkids
Our first event of 2017/18 was the rescheduled Tees Valley Quadkids final held at Darlington. Our children took part in 4 events and were scored on each. They had a fantastic time and just finished out of the medals in 4th place

Y6 Mixed Tag Rugby
After the huge success of finishing 2nd in the Middlesbrough competition. Our y6 children headed to the Tees Valley finals full of confidence. Again our children showed fantastic ability and made it to the final. It was an all Middlesbrough final ending in a narrow defeat for our children. This doesn’t take away from the huge success of our tag rugby teams over the term. Well done everyone!

Y6 Tri-Golf
Hartlepool Sports Domes was the venue for our Y6 Tri-Golf Tees Valley Finalists. Again our children took on 10 different activities throughout the morning and finished in a fantastic 3rd place overall. Bringing bronze medals back to school.

Acklam Sports Partnership events

Y2 Mini Olympics
20 of our y2 children had a fantastic afternoon at Acklam Grange School. They took part in numerous activities whilst working with the AGS sports Leaders! Lots of smiles and success!

Ks1 Gymnastics
12 children from Y1 attending Acklam Grange school to take part in a Gymnastics afternoon. Our children showed off a fantastic routine they had been working on and they also took part in numerous activities including trampoline with the AGS sports leaders!

Gazette Sports Awards.

We were delighted to be nominated for the primary school sports team of the year award. Our fantastic y4 (now year 5) cricket team attended the evening. We were treat to a 3 course meal. Sadly we narrowly missed out on the main award. But we were so proud of our children for being nominated for such a prestigious award

LTA north awards
Following on from our fantastic Tennis achievements, we were delighted to be nominated for the Tennis School of The Year 2017. The awards evening was held at The Stadium of Light. It was a very tense moment before hearing that Acklam Whin were crowned WINNERS! A fantastic achievement for everyone at our school!
